Dead body found Monday afternoon in Angrignon Park

Unclear how long the body had been in the park, with some reports suggesting the man had attended a gathering there Sunday.

Montreal police are investigating after the body of a man was found Monday afternoon in Angrignon Park near Trinitaires Blvd. in the city’s southwest borough.

A 911 call was made shortly before 2 p.m. regarding a dead body found in the park. Police arrived on the scene with paramedics and located the body on the ground near the park’s 1.1-kilometre lake.

The scene was protected throughout the afternoon as investigators interviewed witnesses and worked to understand the circumstances surrounding the death.

The victim was 36 years old, police said; his identity has not yet been confirmed and the cause of death has not yet been established, they said.

The death is being treated as suspicious. “All hypotheses are open,” said police spokesperson Anthony Dorelas.

It was not clear Monday how long the victim’s body had been in the park, although there are unconfirmed reports that he had attended a gathering with friends in the park Sunday evening and was reported missing on Monday, Dorelas said.
