Dr Michael Mosley’s wife, Dr Clare Bailey, has made a powerful vow to continue his work weeks after his death at the age of 67.

On June 5 this year, Dr Mosley went missing on the Greek island of Symi, after going for a walk in extreme 40-degree heat.

After the TV doctor’s body was found in a rocky area close to Agia Marina beach, it was thought that he died hours after leaving his wife, having gone on an ‘incredible climb’ and then ‘collapsed’ after taking the wrong route.

In her first Instagram post since her husband’s death, Dr Bailey has thanked everyone who shared supportive messages for her and her family following their unexpected loss.

‘Thank you all for your wonderfully supportive messages. The outpouring of love from so many people has meant a huge amount to me and my family,’ she wrote in her caption, alongside a picture of Dr Mosley.

‘I’m going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you will understand. But I will be back here soon. I very much want to continue with the work that gave Michael and myself so much joy and such a sense of purpose.’

She continued: ‘Once more thank you so much for respecting my family’s privacy so kindly.

‘Michael was an amazing man. Thank you for seeing that too. We miss him so much.’

Dr Bailey received a rush of supportive comments underneath her post, with one from an Instagram user called Yusra reading: ‘We are all here with you and for you and your family. He has changed our lives and will continue to do so.

‘Thank you for sharing him with us for so long. Take all the time you need but please come back. We all need you too xxx.’

Jane added: ‘Take every moment that you and your family need, Michael gave so much to so many our family included and will be greatly missed by all, but none more than you.

‘Now is the time for you to look after yourselves until the time is right, we will all still be here to welcome you back when you are ready. There are no rules to grief…xx.’
