Cavaliers-Suns pick
The Cleveland Cavaliers continue their Western Conference road trip tonight when they make their first visit to Phoenix to play the Suns.
Both FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbooks are favoring the Suns by six points. That spread seems fair considering how the Cavaliers have played in recent weeks.
Cleveland is 4-6 in its last 10 games (including a loss to Charlotte in that stretch) and is just 10-13 after the All-Star Break. A big issue for the Cavs is that Donovan Mitchell hasn’t been that great since he returned from injury, averaging 13.0 points per game on 29.6% from the floor in four March games. He is also questionable to play tonight with left knee management.
The Suns should also have much more desperation at this point. Cleveland will likely finish as the three seed in the East (although the two seed isn’t unreasonable), while Phoenix is fighting to get out of the play-in round. The Suns entered play today as the eight seed, but are only one game behind Dallas and New Orleans for a the five and six seeds, so every game really matters for them down the stretch.
Plus, Phoenix has the consistent scoring of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Both average around 27.5 PPG on roughly 50% shooting, which makes them the fifth and sixth best scorers in the NBA, and there’s always the chance one of them goes supernova and drops a 50-burger like Booker did on Monday against the Pelicans.
