Sarah Ferguson, who was diagnosed with the “worst form” of skin cancer earlier this year, offered her support to Kate Middleton just days after the princess announced her own cancer diagnosis.
“All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment,” Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, wrote on Instagram Monday. “I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome.”
She continued, “As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness.”
Ferguson concluded her message by encouraging her followers to give Middleton “time, space and privacy to heal.”
The 64-year-old confirmed in January that she was “diagnosed with malignant melanoma” after dermatologists removed and tested several of her moles.
While one of the moles proved to be cancerous, it’s unclear if she will need to undergo additional treatment.
Although Ferguson later admitted that her second cancer diagnosis came as “a shock,” she assured her followers that she remained in “good spirits.”
The news came just six months after the Duchess of York underwent a mastectomy to treat breast cancer.
Meanwhile, Middleton announced on Friday that she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the beginning of 2024.
The mother of three sparked concern after it was announced in January 2024 that she had undergone a planned abdominal surgery and would not return to the public eye until after Easter.
In the months following, social media ran rampant with wild rumors about Middleton’s whereabouts — prompting her to share her diagnosis.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” she recalled in a video shared to Instagram. “The surgery was successful.”
“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that
treatment.”

Middleton and husband Prince William ultimately decided to keep the “shock” diagnosis to themselves for the sake of their “young family.”
“As you can imagine, this has taken time,” the mother of three explained. “It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”
Although she is “well” and “getting stronger every day,” Middleton asked royal fans to respect her privacy as she finishes chemo.
In fact, the family of five reportedly flew via helicopter from Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to Anmer Hall in Norfolk on Saturday for a week-long getaway.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the family plans to stay at their Sandringham Estate property amid the kids’ Easter break.
