A birthday card from Asda has provided shoppers a laugh for all the wrong reasons.

While some greeting cards aim to be humorous or heartfelt, a woman shopping for a birthday card for her mum found one in particular that had an unintended comedic effect.

Playfully, the woman joked about discovering the ‘ideal’ £2.50 birthday card at Asda, suggesting it’s only perfect if your mum’s eyes happen to be ‘upside down.’

The woman shared her hilarious find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group where she wrote: ‘Does your mom have upside-down eyes? Is her birthday around the corner? Asda has the perfect card for her at a delightful price of just £2.50!’

She also shared an image of the card, which at first look, appears to be a beautiful pale green creation with stars and confetti. The intended message was meant to read: ‘For a fabulous mum on your birthday.’

Yet, it’s impossible to overlook one glaring error. The issue with the card lies in the upside-down placement of the word ‘mum.’

Since being uploaded, the post has garnered thousands of likes, with numerous individuals playfully mocking the amusing mistake. One person jokingly recommended: ‘Just spin the ‘mum’ back around.’

A second quipped: ‘Maybe for Australian Mums.’

While a third added: ‘Maybe she does pole dance and spends her time upside down lol.’

Despite the questionable card, Asda are clearly doing something right in the retail world. A record number of Asda convenience stores are opening across the UK this February.

In total, 110 new convenience shops will open bringing the total number of Asda stores in the UK to 1,000.

Locations for the new Asda Express branches will include LondonLincolnshire, Glasgow, Dorset, and Manchester.

Meanwhile, Asda has also announced a new , which will offer customers the chance to save 50% or more on four products in store every weekend.

From home appliances to food items, there will be a rotation of four items each weekend. Items on sale in February’s roundup included the Gino D’Acampo five star-rated air fryer that dropped in price from £39 to just £19.
