The Young and the Restless star Jordi Vilasuso’s wife, Kaitlin, has shared an update after their baby daughter was rushed to hospital.
The couple recently announced the birth of their youngest daughter, Lucy, on January 6, and are already parents to children Riley, 10, and seven-year-old Everly.
In an Instagram devastating post on Thursday, they revealed that the three-week-old had been admitted to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) after being diagnosed with RSV, and explained that she had a ‘partially collapsed lung’.
In a new update, Kaitlin, 37, posted a snap of her family – including Jordi, 42 – as they spent time at home, praying for their new addition.
She also shared a video of little Lucy as she slept in her hospital crib, surrounded by wires.
‘Thankful for family bedtime prayers for the first time since all of this happened,’ she penned. ‘Anxious to have the littlest hands in our circle back home.’
‘This little hand. Hi sweet baby,’ she added beside the footage of Lucy.
According to the Mayo Clinic, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract.
It is said to be a common illness, but can cause severe infection in some, including infants – symptoms include a fever, a severe cough, difficulty breathing and irritability.
Most children and adults recover from RSV in one to two weeks.
Jordi, who played Rey Rosales in the long-running US soap, welcomed his third child with Kaitlin at the beginning of the year, adding to their family alongside Riley and Emily.
Days after announcing her arrival, the actor – who has also appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, All My Children and Days of our Lives – shared the news of her illness on social media, revealing that she had difficulty breathing.
‘Ah friends.. we come to you coveting your prayers yet again,’ he began a joint post with his partner. ‘I feel like all I do is ask you all for prayers or thank you for prayers.. I suppose that is just the season we’re in right now.
‘We found out Monday that Lucy had RSV and by Monday night she had been admitted to the hospital w/ difficulty breathing.
‘Last night, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse and she was moved to NICU w/ what the doctors described as a partially collapsed right lung.
‘I am still struggling to believe this as I type.’
‘Please please pray with us for miraculous healing for Lucy’s precious little body,’ the post concluded. ‘We love her so much and just want her home and happy and in our arms.’
The family were instantly flooded with support from fans and famous faces, with Eileen Davidson leading the way.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star penned: ‘Prayers and love for Lucy.’
Chandler Kinney agreed: ‘Sending all the love to you and the whole family and keeping Lucy in our hearts and prayers.’
‘Praying for healing for sweet Lucy and strength for your family.. She’s a strong one,’ Kat Conner Sterling posted.
As Ashley Jones added: ‘Oh honey! Lifting her up (and all of you) in prayer. Please God, put your healing hands on Lucy.’
