East-end Montreal teachers union votes to accept contract deal with Quebec

The union says 58 per cent of those who attended an extraordinary meeting of the membership voted in favour of the deal.

The Montreal-based Syndicat de l’enseignement de la Pointe-de-l’Île (SEPÎ), reported on social media that 58 per cent of those who attended an extraordinary meeting of the membership voted in favour of the deal.

The union represents the 4,384 teachers employed by the Centre de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île, in the east end of the city.

Teachers employed at the school service centres of Montreal and Laval are expected to vote on the deal Thursday evening.

The contract offer includes pay raises that go as high as 24 per cent over five years.
