Two dead, three in hospital following head-on crash near Lethbridge

A 52-year-old man from Nipawin, Sask., and a 63-year-old man from Taber, who were driving together, were pronounced dead at the scene

Two men died Wednesday night in a head-on crash on a southern Alberta highway.

At roughly 8 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision along Highway 23 at Township Road 104, about 27 kilometres northwest of Lethbridge.

An initial investigation determined one vehicle crossed the centre line and struck the other, RCMP said Thursday.

A 52-year-old man from Nipawin, Sask., and a 63-year-old man from Taber, who were driving together, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people were transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

“Condolences to the family and friends of both deceased,” said RCMP.

The Mounties continue to investigate the collision.
