OpenAI officially rolled out the GPT Store on Wednesday, two months after the company first debuted GPTs – customized versions of the popular artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT.
Since then, OpenAI said in a blog post Wednesday, users have created more than 3 million custom versions of ChatGPT.
After initial delays from leadership tumult in the company late last year, the GPT Store launched Wednesday to paid users who have access to ChatGPT Plus, Team or Enterprise.
The GPT Store will let users browse popular and trending GPTs and share their own GPTs on the public store, after getting verified as a builder.
When announcing plans for the GPT Store in November, OpenAI drew similarities between the GPT Store and the App Store. The GPT Store will highlight a different group of “useful and impactful GPTs” on a rotating basis each week.
OpenAI announced the first set of featured GPTs: personalized trail recommendations from AllTrails; search and synthesize results from 200M academic papers with Consensus; expand your coding skills with Khan Academy’s Code Tutor; design presentations or social posts with Canva; find your next read with Books; learn math and science anytime, anywhere with the CK-12 Flexi AI tutor.
Builders of GPTs will soon be able to make money off their GPTs, OpenAI said on Wednesday. In Q1, OpenAI will a GPT builder revenue program.
“As a first step, US builders will be paid based on user engagement with their GPTs. We’ll provide details on the criteria for payments as we get closer,” OpenAI said Wednesday.
