Olympics ‘dad bod’ official goes viral for retrieving swim cap in colorful Speedo

You don’t expect to see many dad bods at the Olympic pool.

But here came one on Sunday morning, belonging to an Olympic official sent to retrieve a lost swim cap during the 100-meter women’s breaststroke heats.

The man, dubbed by NBC as “Bob the Cap Catcher” quickly went viral as he stripped to his colorful Speedo to dive into the pool and pick up the cap of American swimmer Emma Weber.

“Is there anything better on the pool deck other than that Speedo right there?” exclaimed NBC’s commentator.

The man held the swim cap high as he exited the pool to rapturous applause.

“That was an Olympic moment,” said the Eurosport broadcaster.

Indeed it was.

Weber ultimately didn’t qualify for the semifinal later Sunday, but American Lily King won her heat to move onto the semis at 3:10 p.m. ET.

Whether anything else that happens Sunday can approach the scene when Bob the Cap Catcher jumped in the water.
