Man seriously injured after being trapped in silo in Valcourt

The man was extricated with the help of the fire department.

The Sûreté du Québec said a man was seriously injured Tuesday during an incident with an agricultural silo in Valcourt, 35 kilometres northwest of Sherbrooke.

Emergency services were contacted around 10:30 a.m. to intervene regarding a man trapped in a silo on Roberge Rd.

The SQ said that, according to initial information, the man, in his seventies, was able to be extricated with the help of the fire department.

The septuagenarian was brought to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

An SQ investigator and a forensic identification technician were dispatched to the site to determine the causes and circumstances of this event.

Quebec’s workplace health and safety board, the CNESST, was notified of the incident, the SQ said.
