Halyna Hutchins’ widower ‘respects’ Alec Baldwin trial reversal but still wants actor held ‘accountable for his actions’: lawyer

A representative for the widower of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins “respects” a New Mexico judge’s move to toss the involuntary manslaughter charges against Alec Baldwin — but hinted that they might bring the actor back to court before too long.

“We respect the court’s decision,” attorney Brian J. Panish told The Post on behalf of Matthew Hutchins Saturday — less than one day after Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer abruptly dismissed the charges against Baldwin.

Though the judge ruled that the criminal charges against Baldwin could not be refiled, Panish said the grieving family may still try to bring the actor to justice.

“We look forward to presenting all the evidence to a jury and holding Mr. Baldwin accountable for his actions in the senseless death of Halyna Hutchins,” he said in a statement first released to Deadline Friday night, shortly after the startling reversal.

Baldwin, 66, sobbed when the judge announced the dismissal.

The “30 Rock” star has been embroiled in legal trouble ever since Oct. 21, 2021, when the prop gun he was holding on the set of his Western film “Rust” fired and fatally struck Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

The on-set armorer, Hannah Guttierez-Reed, was convicted in March of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident.

She was sentenced to 18 months behind bars in April.

Baldwin — who is currently filming TLC “The Baldwins” TLC reality series with his wife Hilaria and their seven young children — settled a wrongful death suit with Matthew Hutchins last year.

The relieved actor was spotted smiling with his entourage — including younger brother Stephen, 58 —outside Casa Chimayo restaurant in Santa Fe Friday night after the ruling.
