Toyota’s 2025 GR86 Hakone Edition is a love poem to Japan’s most famous toll road

Limited to just 30 examples, each one with a manual transmission, you better act fast

The Hakone Edition builds on top of the Premium trim GR86, which for the 2024 year costs $38,332.50 for the manual transmission version. Canada will only get 30 of the Hakone cars, all of them with a manual, and while pricing for the entire 2025 GR86 lineup has yet to be released, a good guess would be that this car might cost in the low-$40k range, as the current Trueno special edition does.

Toyota built a Hakone Edition for the previous-generation GT86, but it was a slightly softer car (17” wheels, less grippy tires). Further, while 860 of the 2025 special edition are headed for the North American market as a whole, including ones with automatic transmissions, Toyota Canada is only bringing in those 30 manual cars. This truly will be a proper special edition north of the border.
