House GOP leaders slam Dem bosses for Harris replacing Biden: ‘They just steamrolled democracy’

After weeks of Democrats mounting a pressure campaign to force President Biden out of his reelection bid, House Republican leadership excoriated Democrats for sabotaging the democratic process to get his decades-younger running mate elected instead.

House GOP leaders on Tuesday accused Democrats of undermining the will of their voters by forcing out Biden, 81, in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris, 59.

“Over 48 hours ago, just over 100 days before an election, Democrat Party bosses forced Joe Biden off the ballot,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters Tuesday during a press conference.

“They invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who went through the small ‘d’ democratic process and chose their nominee for president,” he went on, adding that “they just steamrolled democracy.”

Johnson went further, arguing that “If Joe Biden is not fit to run for president, he is not fit to run the country – we’re stating the obvious.”

Biden publicly announced his plans to step aside as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president Sunday amid an internal mutiny for him to step aside.

He then endorsed Harris for the nod and she has since locked up sufficient delegates to be deemed the presumptive party nominee for president.

“The Democrat Party proved last week that they have absolutely no respect for their own voters,” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) jabbed. “They literally jettisoned — threw out — the votes of 14 million Democrats who went to the polls to select Joe Biden as their nominee.”

Trump, 78, himself aired similar grievances about the presidential switcharoo, as well.

“The Democrats lied and misled the public about Crooked Joe Biden, and now we find he is a complete and total Cognitive and Physical ‘MESS,’” Trump griped on Truth Social.

“They also mislead [sic] the Republican Party, causing it to waste a great deal of time and money. To be resumed!” he added.

Democrats have since largely coalesced around Harris as the standard bearer, with most of the party’s luminaries quickly endorsing her candidacy.

The newly rebranded Harris for President campaign raked in more than $100 million between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening from over 1.1 million unique donors, according to officials on the team.

Now, Republicans are forced to recalibrate their messaging in the presidential contest. House GOP leaders made clear they intend to tie Harris to Biden as much as possible.

“The American people know that Kamala Harris owns Joe Biden’s catastrophic and failed policies, from the inflation crisis to the energy crisis to the crime crisis, and … the border crisis,” House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said.

“Kamala Harris is Joe Biden’s open border czar. By every metric, Harris has failed to secure our borders, advancing far-left Democrats’ failed open border policies and the needs of illegals over the safety of American citizens.”

GOP leaders also sniped at Harris’ plans to skip Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint address to the two chambers of Congress on Wednesday.

“She is supposed to be seated next to me at the rostrum. She will not be there because she refuses to attend. She needs to be held accountable for that,” Johnson grumbled.

“The idea that they’re making political calculations when our ally is in such dire straits, fighting for its very survival and fighting back against the horrific attack in October is unconscionable,” he added.

Instead, Harris is expected to trek over to Indianapolis where she will speak at the Zeta Phi Beta, a historically black sorority, for their convention.
