Quebec places three CHSLDs under public administration

The order affects CHSLD Argyle facilities in Longueuil, St-Lambert and Pointe-Claire.

Quebec Seniors Minister Sonia Bélanger has placed three long-term care facilities under public administration, she announced Tuesday, saying she was “concerned” by the situation in the centres.

Starting Tuesday, the CHSLD Argyle facilities in Longueuil and St-Lambert will be administered by the CISSS de la Montérégie-Est and CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre.

In St-Lambert, the CISSS will also take care of intermediate resources.

The CHSLD Argyle in Pointe-Claire will be managed by the West Island CIUSSS, as will the related private seniors’ residence.

The provisional administration order can last up to 180 days, and can be extended if deemed necessary.

The ministry says it has been in communication with the CHSLDs for several months, but “the administration in place has not been able to achieve and maintain various expected standards,” it said in a statement.

“The government will not compromise on the health, safety and well-being of users. The provisional administration is a measure that has been proven and that allows us to remedy problematic situations,” Bélanger said in the statement.
