Jeremy Clarkson warned ‘you’re part of the problem’ after ‘alarming’ farm discovery

Jeremy Clarkson has been told he’s ‘part of the problem’ after realising ‘something is afoot’.

The Clarkson’s Farm and former Top Gear presenter has been making strides in the world of farming in recent years, but fans haven’t reacted kindly after he posted about the falling numbers of butterflies on his farm.

On Sunday, the 63-year-old star admitted he was ‘a bit alarmed’ by the low numbers after taking a stroll around his Diddly Squat farm.

‘Just been for a walk round the farm and I’m a bit alarmed by how few butterflies there are. Something is afoot,’ he tweeted.

‘Stop spraying – go organic. In the meantime leave min 3m uncultivated strips on the margins so beetles, insects and ground nesting birds can thrive,’ argued one follower.

Jeremy replied: ‘We are doing all the right things. Including not going organic. Which doesn’t work.’

‘You can’t spray the crap out of everything, say organic doesn’t work because you can’t be bothered to do the work, then moan there are no pollinators. You’re part of the problem,’ ranted X user @SuzanneWalsh72.

‘Your domesticated bees are part of the problem,’ claimed @chrisdgreen52, while X Radio presenter Danny Wallace quipped: ‘Diesel-smelling Top Gear host who threatened climate protestors misses butterflies.’

Back in 2021, Jeremy previously described climate protesters as ‘a handful of beardy people in Crocs, socks and high-visibility jackets’ with ‘smelly armpits’.

And in 2019, he tweeted: ‘No. The police can’t do anything about knife crime because they’re having to deal with all those happy clappy eco vicars.’

Other people pointed out the irony after Jeremy claimed a world that focuses on environmentalism would be too depressing because he thinks so many natural pleasures will need to be ‘sacrificed’ in order to achieve it.

Writing for The Times in December 2023, he argued: ‘To achieve a clean and green world, they will have to sacrifice so much of what makes us happy.

‘Instead of food, for example, we may have to live on pills. Made by AI machines in solar-powered factories, these will give us all the vitamins and energy we need — but where’s the joy in that?

‘Compared, say, with carving a lovely piece of beef and opening the oven door to find your Yorkshire puddings are perfect for once. Who wants to live in a world without gravy?’

And having shown something of a disregard for the issues of climate change on his motoring shows in the past, he insisted in April it was simply all a ‘joke’.

‘That was part of the caricature,’ he told The Guardian. ‘It was a joke.’

Responding to Jeremy’s recent comment about butterflies, some fans sarcastically hinted at his previous comments about climate change.

‘Something is afoot, guys. Who knows what it could be. It’s a mystery,’ wrote @the_spkr.

And @MrMatthewTodd shared an article from nhm.ac.uk which reported the UK’s flying insect population had declined by 60% in 20 years by 2022.

They added on X: ‘Yes, sadly we are up the creek without a paddle. Human activity is killing the world. That not an exaggeration. We are on the way out and taking a million species with us.

‘You’ve been part of the problem. You could do us all a real service by really shouting, jumping ship and telling the public the full truth of how bad things are. You have an important voice. It’s all far worse than you think.’
