Laval Rocket signs one-year deal with Alex Beaucage

The 22-year-old from Trois-Rivières was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche but became a free agent on July 1, having yet to play an NHL game.

The Laval Rocket announced Tuesday that they have awarded a one-year, one-way contract to forward Alex Beaucage.

Drafted in the third round, 78th overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in 2019, the 22-year-old from Trois-Rivières has still not played a game in the National Hockey League. Colorado signed him to a three-year entry-level contract in 2021 that had a cap hit of $878,333 per year, according to CapFriendly.com. The team did not make a qualifying offer to him by July 1, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Last season, Beaucage had seven points, including a goal, in 21 games with the Colorado Eagles in the American Hockey League. He also collected 25 points, including 11 goals, in 29 games with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL.
