From a surprise Michael J Fox cameo to a set list packed with hits, there’s no denying that Coldplay’s record-breaking fifth headline slot at Glastonbury Festival was a treat for the eyes and ears.
However, the music isn’t the only thing fans were talking about…
On Saturday night, frontman Chris Martin took to the iconic Pyramid Stage to perform to over 100,000 revellers, while a record 7.6milliomn tuned in to watch the set on BBC.
The British music legend delighted viewers with energetic performances of Highter Power, The Scientist, Clocks, Viva La Vida, and more, but it was Chris’s accent in between the tunes that audiences at home picked up on.

Taking to social media, fans expressed confusion over his apparent accent change, given that the 47-year-old was born in Whitestone, Devon yet seemed to speak like ‘a crap 1970’s TV detective’.
‘Chris Martin seems to have also gone to the Alex Turner school of what the f**k is that accent’, wrote X user m0dernworld.
ProudYorkie67 commented: ‘What’s happened to Chris Martin’s accent? Has he been living in the Austrian Alps for the last 10 years?’
‘Chris Martin talks like me when I inadvertently slip into a generic ‘foreign’ accent when attempting to communicate with a waiter who doesn’t speak English’, wrote MrLukowski.
LouisePage_ blasted Chris’s accent as ‘ridiculous’, while brandedche slammed it as ‘atrocious’.
Playing devil’s advocate, however, JamesKinsey penned an explanation: ‘Chris Martin’s accent is strange now when he talks. He does live in Malibu, California though which is probably the reason.’
Indeed, the Paradise hitmaker has been living across the pond throughout his relationship with Dakota Johnson.
The 34-year-old actress, born in Texas, has been dating Chris since October 2017.
A proud Dakota watched Coldplay’s Glasto set this weekend, joined by Chris’s children Apple, 20, and Moses, 28, whom he shares with ex-wife, Gwyneth Platrow, 51.
Seen singing and dancing along, the group had a prime view from the friends and family viewing area on the side of the stage, while the likes of Tom Cruise and Gillian Anderson were also in the audience.
By showing her support for her other half, movie star Dakota firmly put to bed any rumours that they had separated.
Her attendance at the Worthy Farm festival marks the first time she has been seen with Chris since February, with rumours following that they had secretly split before reuniting.
But, it’s now said the A-list power couple are ‘going strong’ while still focusing on their own careers.
Coldplay join the likes of Dua Lipa and Shania Twain as major performers taking to the Glastonbury stage in Somerset this weekend.
They first headlined on the Pyramid Stage in 2002 and have now overtaken The Cure, who have headlined the slot four times.

During their epic set, Chris told the audience, who were wearing LED bracelets that changed colour in time with the beat of music: ‘I look around and I just see amazing, wonderful people from all over the place and that’s what makes Glastonbury the greatest city on Earth.’
