10-year-old influencer Yerley Lozada dies in horrific bus collision

Yerley Lozada, who delighted millions with her home movies on rural living, has died following a horrific traffic accident. Her brother, Yomar, confirmed her death in a statement. She was 10 years old.

“She left us. It’s something you can’t believe,” the bereaved sibling told local media. “She accompanied us until the last day making videos. Sadly, God decided to take her away. It’s very hard for the whole family, as well as for you, our followers.”

The tragedy occurred on September 12 while the victim, known as Susa on social media, was riding a motorbike with her mom and sister between Pitalito and San Agustín, near Bogota, Jam Press reported.

Per a preliminary probe, they reportedly collided with a bus when their vehicle’s brakes failed.

According to local media, the tyke died at the scene while her sister was taken to the hospital, where she remains under medical supervision. She is reportedly out of danger.

In light of the accident, authorities have begun investigating whether the bus had proper brakes and if it had the requisite mechanical checks.

Police have also implored drivers to keep their vehicle inspections up to date in order to avoid such accidents.

Before her death, Susa and her family had amassed over 170,000 followers across TikTok, Facebook and other social media platforms, where they posted under the name “Yomar, Tecla y Susa” (after the influencer’s brother, sister and herself respectively).

They regularly uploaded humorous vignettes and sketches detailing their life in the countryside.

Fans were devastated over the youngster’s passing.

“Rest in peace Susa,” said one crestfallen on TikTok. “Fly high we love you a lot.”

Another wrote, “My condolences bro. God rest her in his glory.”

“A little angel full of dreams left us,” mourned a third on Facebook “We are very sorry to the whole family, a girl who always made us smile. We are going to miss you a lot susa, the videos without you will not be the same.”

Little Susa was laid to rest on September 15 in Pitalito while surrounded by family and friends.

Unfortunately, car accidents have proved a scourge across Colombia with the National Road Safety Agency recording a whopping 4,769 traffic-related deaths between January and July 2023.

Of the victims, 2,960 had been riding motorcycles.
