The contract of Alouettes president Mario Cecchini won’t be renewed when it expires on Dec. 31, the Montreal Gazette has learned.
Cecchini was hired — along with general manager Danny Maciocia — in January 2020, shortly after the team was purchased by the late Sid Spiegel and his son-in-law, Gary Stern, from the CFL. Spiegel’s estate now controls 75 per cent of the team.

As of last week, Cecchini hadn’t been offered a new contract by ownership. Cecchini couldn’t be reached for comment.
The Gazette has also learned that assistant head coach André Bolduc will be joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders as running backs coach and run-game coordinator. Bolduc was one of five finalists to become Montreal’s new head coach.
